Frequently asked questions
You’ve got questions?
Good. I’ve got answers.

I’m in South Carolina but I don’t have an office where I see clients in person. Sessions are available online only, and you must be in NC or SC at the time of your session.

It’s quite similar to in-person therapy. I use a secure video platform so we can see each other. My only request is that you’re located in a place where you have privacy and a strong WIFI signal. You can use either a smartphone, laptop or tablet. You’ll receive an email and text reminder to join the session about 2 days before and again within an hour of your session.
-
No, all session are online only. Most people really like this convenience. It saves travel time, parking hassle and you don’t have to wear shoes!

$150 for a 50 minute session. I am in network with a few insurance plans. I do not participate in Medicare.

The first session is an evaluation so we’ll review your history and what brings you to therapy. Some people are nervous about meeting the first time, and that’s totally normal. My goal is to make you as comfortable as possible so I will try not to hammer you with too many questions. You’re welcome to get cozy, include your pet and have a favorite beverage closeby.

Good question and it really varies from one person to the next. On average, it takes about 12-16 weeks for most people to feel like they’ve conquered their initial issue but often, they find that therapy is helpful in exploring other issues that they’ve not dealt with before. That could prolong our time together. I usually suggest weekly sessions at the beginning, but we can talk about moving to a biweekly schedule once you’re feeling more in control of the issues that brought you here.

The No Surprises Act was designed to protect consumers from receiving unexpected medical bills.
The Good Faith Estimate provision of the No Surprises Act is designed to give consumers predictability in how much they will be charged for the healthcare services they will be receiving, prior to their appointment.
Bottom line, if you are not using insurance for your sessions, I have to provide you with a written statement of what the session will cost, thus “no surprises.”

No, I work with people of all gender identities.

I request a 24 hr notice prior to cancelling sessions, otherwise there is a charge of $75. Likewise, if you forget or simply don’t show up, the same fee applies. I do understand emergencies happen and will try to work with you to reschedule as soon as possible.

If you are in crisis, please go to the nearest hospital, call 911, or the suicide lifeline 988. I am unable to respond to urgent or emergency situations outside of business hours.
